BECOMING A ROSE: An Artists' Survival Guide According to Jean Genet, premiered at the 2021 Hollywood Fringe Festival . This play, purposely devised for virtual theater, was streamed live during the festival. BECOMING A ROSE: A New Bloom, a completely re-devised version of the play will be streaming live through the LAT DIGITAL SPACE and available on-demand on SENSETREAM.

The play has been restructured as a series of short virtual scenes that will be first streamed live and then available for on-demand viewing. The scenes will follow the original acts structure: Creating The Mask; Sexuality and Art; Dreams, Acting and Sexual Fantasies; Transcending Through Evil and; Resurrection.

NEW STRUCTURE

BECOMING A ROSE was my first experiment with the Virtual Theater Language, the ground work for the translation - for lack of a better word - of the Absolute Theater Language into the new Virtual Theater Language so, just as the structure of the play has changed, the content has also evolved.
New masks, new explorations into the world of sexuality and art, new dreams, new fantasies and, new paths to transcending through art.

A while back in NYC, I started a project I called The Bare Character Studies videos. After several sessions of training on the Sensory-Somatic approach to acting and an introduction to The Bare Character concept, a group of actors experimented with the connection between their instinctual impulses and their rational approach to acting.
